We all know the importance of exercise.It reduces the risk of heart disease, it increases our energy levels, it boosts our self-esteem, etc. Though working out is a necessity, there are pitfalls that we should avoid to prevent ourselves from getting injured. Here are 3 of them:
1. Skipping the warm-up
Not warming up can easily lead to injury. When you go straight to working out without warm-up, your muscles will work twice as much to compensate for the sudden increase of muscular activity from your workout. This will lead to muscle cramps, and worse, muscle tear. A 5-10 minute warm-up is required before an extensive workout.
2. Concentrating on a single muscle group
Yes, we all know leg day is the worst. But think of your body as a composition of symmetry, and focusing only on a certain body area while excluding others can cause imbalance. Not only will it not look good on you, it’s unhealthy as well.
3. Not eating healthy
Exercise is just one part of being fit, the other is eating healthy. You can shed those fats all, but if you don’t control your diet, it’ll be useless. Controlling your diet doesn’t only mean you’re going to eat less. You need to eat the right amount of proteins and carbohydrates to help your body rebuild its muscles after tearing it down in your workout.
